Palestinian security sources said, as reported by AFP on Wednesday (07/22/2015), the incident began when Israeli troops raided the village of Birqin, western Jenin. The raids have met with resistance from the Palestinians and the clash was inevitable.
A Palestinian youth, Mohammed Alawneh (22) was killed in the clash. Alawneh hit in the chest and died shortly after being admitted to a local hospital.
While one other Palestinians were identified as Mohammed Atiq was arrested in the operation. After the shootings and arrests, dozens of Palestinians threw stones at Israeli soldiers and met with tear gas and shots into the air.
But an Israeli military source told Israel radio that no live ammunition used in the operation in the village Birqin. "The army and border guards conduct operations in the village to arrest a wanted Palestinian," said this source.
